Ravi Chellam is a wildlife biologist and conservation scientist with a PhD on Asiatic lions in Gir. He has played a key role in lion conservation, including serving as an expert advisor to the Forest Bench of the Supreme Court of India, which ordered the translocation of lions from Gir to Kuno. He has held leadership roles at the Wildlife Institute of India, UNDP-India, Ashoka Trust for Research in Ecology and the Environment, Wildlife Conservation Society–India, Greenpeace-India, among others. Currently, the CEO of Metastring Foundation, Professor at The University of Trans-Disciplinary Health Sciences and Technology, and co-ordinator of the Biodiversity Collaborative, he champions evidence-based conservation.
