Prince Azmet Jah, Asaf Jah IX, ascended the gaddi in January 2023 as the titular Nizam of Hyderabad. He is the eldest son of H.E.H. Mukarram Jah and succeeded his father in accordance with the late Nizam’s wishes. He is the eldest great-grandchild of the seventh Nizam of Hyderabad. Born in London, he spent his formative years in Hyderabad. He completed a BA in cinematography from the University of Southern California, pursued a career in films, and worked as an assistant cameraman with notable filmmakers on several blockbuster films. He oversees the various trusts set up by his late father, including the Chowmahala Palace Trust.
