Nilanjan Choudhury is a novelist, theatre-maker, and science communicator. His most recent novel, Song of the Golden Sparrow (2023), is a fictional retelling of the history of free India. His previous novel, Shillong Times (2018), is a coming-of-age story set against the ethnic conflict in Shillong in the 1980s. It has been widely praised as a significant contribution to North-east literature and was nominated for the Sahitya Akademi Award (2023). His debut novel, Bali and the Ocean of Milk (2011), a mythological thriller, was a bestseller. He studied at IIM Ahmedabad and IIT Kanpur.
