Mrunalini is an academic and a well-known writer in Telugu of short fiction, literary criticism, translation, and biographies. She has published 25 books and has received awards for her writing as well as for her work in radio and television promoting literature. She received the Best Teacher Award from the State Government in 2014 and also the Best Translator Award for her translation into Telugu of R.K. Narayan’s Malgudi Days. She headed Worldspace Satellite Radio Telugu Channel, and received National Awards for Innovative programming. She is Convener and EC Member of Sahitya Akademi for Telugu and Chairman of South Indian Bahsha Samiti for Saraswati Samman.
