Mehak Jamal is a filmmaker and author from Kashmir. She is a 2022 South Asia Speaks Fellow, awarded to outstanding emerging writers from the region. Her film Bad Egg premiered at the 19th Indian Film Festival Stuttgart and won the Audience Award. It was screened at and won awards at multiple film festivals, including Melbourne, Madrid, Chicago, Atlanta, Washington DC, Kerala, Bangalore, and Dharamshala. She is a film alumna of Srishti Institute of Art, Design and Technology, Bangalore. Lōal Kashmir: Love and Longing in a Torn Land (2025) is her first book.
