Kavery Poonacha Nambisan is from Kodagu district, Karnataka. She started writing when she was working as a full-fledged surgeon in remote parts of Bihar, Uttar Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, and Karnataka. She has written eight novels, two non-fiction books, and several essays, both medical and literary. Several of her novels have been shortlisted for major literary awards. Her most recent publication is Rising Sons: A Novel (2025).
