Karthick Narayanan R,a Moturi Satyanarayana Fellow, is a linguist and researcher whose work centres on language documentation, sociolinguistics, and community-led archiving in India. His Multilinguality, Vitality, and Endangerment: Insights from the Lived Experiences of Multilingual India (2025) draws on long-term fieldwork among the Toda and Kota communities to rethink dominant models of language vitality and displacement. He works at the intersection of multilingualism, language endangerment, and digital infrastructures, designing linguistic archives, developing NLP datasets, and training Indigenous communities to document and govern their languages. His earlier publications include studies on Toda verbal art and language archiving.
