Sameer Hamdani is an architect, conservationist, and art historian. His conservation works in Kashmir include the conservation of Mughal gardens, Aali Masjid and Khanqah-i Maula, and the reconstruction of Pir Dastgir Saheb Shrine. In 2021, he oversaw the successful nomination of Srinagar on UNESCO’s Creative Cities Network. He has also written widely on South Asian material culture. He is a 2023-24 recipient of a conservation grant from The Barakat Trust (London) for a documentation project of architectural epigraphy in early modern Kashmir. In 2021-22, he was the Aga Khan Fellow in Islamic Architecture, Conservation & Urbanism at MIT, Cambridge.
